Crew Foreman & Operator

About the Role:

We’re hiring a Crew Foreman / Operator to lead one of our marine construction field crews. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who’s not afraid to get dirty, take ownership of their crew, and run projects with safety, speed, and precision. You’ll be in charge of day-to-day field operations, overseeing heavy equipment, crew management, safety protocols, and job execution in marine and waterfront construction environments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, track loaders, barges, cranes, and trucks

  • Lead and coordinate daily jobsite activities with a 2–4 person crew

  • Perform and/or supervise marine construction work including:

    • Dock and lift installs/removals

    • Seawall installation (steel, vinyl, boulder, etc.)

    • Dredging, pile driving, crane lifts, and barge-based work

  • Ensure job sites are organized, safe, and completed efficiently

  • Communicate directly with the Project Manager and Owner regarding job updates, material needs, crew performance, etc.

  • Train and supervise crew members in field best practices

  • Load/unload job materials and tools; ensure proper daily staging

  • Conduct daily walkarounds and basic maintenance on trucks, trailers, and equipment

  • Maintain safety and compliance on all jobsites, including PPE, fall protection, and OSHA standards

  • Problem-solve unexpected challenges with a “get it done” mentality

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid CDL Class A or B (Required)

  • Heavy equipment operating experience (Required)

  • Strong leadership and crew management skills

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in physically demanding environments (land and water-based)

  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on job quality, timelines, and safety

  • Clean driving record and reliable transportation

  • Ability to read basic plans and layout construction sites

  • Welding, rigging, and/or mechanical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in marine construction or waterfront environments

  • Small crane or barge operation experience

  • Experience operating push boats or working on floating equipment

  • Familiarity with Snap Dock, Golden Boat Lifts, Ace Boat Lifts, or ShoreStation equipment

Are you looking for a hands-on, fast-paced outdoor career that lets you work on the water every day? On Pointe Contracting is expanding our Inland Lake Division based in Pinckney, MI, and we’re looking for motivated, reliable Crew Hands to join our growing team.

About the Role:

As a Crew Hand, you’ll work directly with our foremen and installers on seasonal boat lift and dock installations/removals, seawall builds, shoreline restoration, and other custom marine construction projects on inland lakes throughout Livingston, Washtenaw, and western Oakland Counties.

This position is perfect for someone who loves working outdoors, being part of a tight-knit crew, and taking pride in high-quality craftsmanship. We work hard, stay organized, and make every project reflect the On Pointe Standard.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist with the delivery, assembly, repairs, installation and removal of docks, boat lifts, and seawalls

  • Load/unload materials, tools, and equipment from trailers and barges

  • Operate power tools and basic equipment under supervision

  • Maintain clean, safe job sites and equipment

  • Learn layout, leveling, and rigging techniques used in marine construction

  • Support foreman and crew leads on all project tasks

Seasonal Work & Safety Notes:

We will only be working in the water through October 31, 2025, and proper wetsuits are provided for all team members. After that, work transitions to land-based or shallow-water projects that require waders — also provided.

We're looking for motivated and dependable crew hands to join our growing marine construction team. You’ll work on a wide variety of waterfront construction projects including boat lifts, seasonal and permanent docks, seawalls, dredging, and other shoreline improvements. This is a great opportunity to grow with one of Michigan’s fastest-growing marine contractors.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting with installation and removal of boat lifts, docks, and seawalls

  • Operating small to mid-size equipment (mini-excavators, skid steers, etc.)

  • General labor (digging, framing, raking, leveling, material staging, etc.)

  • Handling materials, tools, and site cleanup

  • Working safely on land, in water, and from barges or work platforms

  • Supporting foreman and lead installers on a variety of job sites

  • Driving company trucks or towing trailers when needed

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Must be comfortable working in and around water

  • Experience operating heavy equipment a plus

  • Dock, lift, and/or seawall construction experience strongly preferred

  • Must be physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs regularly

Shop Lead/Logistics Coordinator

Position Summary:

We’re seeking a highly organized, hands-on Shop Lead to manage the daily operations of our shop and yard. This individual plays a critical support role ensuring that all field crews are equipped, fueled, and ready for success each day.

This is a key operations position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and wants to grow within a rapidly scaling marine construction company.

Key Responsibilities:

Shipping & Receiving

  • Accept, inspect, and unload inbound shipments, vendor deliveries, and freight orders.

  • Verify contents against packing slips and document discrepancies.

  • Organize and safely store all incoming materials.

Staging for Field Crews

  • Prep and stage all materials, tools, hardware, and equipment for upcoming jobs.

  • Coordinate directly with the Project Manager and field crews to ensure readiness.

  • Load trucks/trailers efficiently and accurately for each project.

Inventory & Shop Management

  • Maintain clean, organized shop and yard space.

  • Track and replenish consumables, fasteners, parts, and inventory.

  • Implement systems to reduce lost tools and prevent waste.

Fleet & Equipment Oversight

  • Perform basic inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs on trucks, trailers, small engines, and light equipment.

  • Log and track maintenance schedules and records.

  • Coordinate major repairs with outside service vendors.

Logistics & Support

  • Run parts or supplies to crews in the field as needed.

  • Keep trucks, trailers, and gas-powered equipment fueled and ready.

  • Occasionally transport equipment, trailers, or materials to and from job sites or vendors.

  • Assist in offloading barge equipment, deliveries, or returning unused materials.

Qualifications:

  • Valid chauffeur’s license (required)

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Mechanically inclined with experience in basic maintenance/repairs

  • Ability to operate forklifts, skid steers, and similar equipment preferred

  • Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors year-round

  • Strong communicator who works well independently and as part of a team

Experienced Welder / Fabricator

About the Role

On Pointe Contracting is seeking a skilled and creative Welder/Fabricator to support both our field crews and shop operations. This is not your typical fabrication job — our projects often involve custom, one-off applications that require problem-solving, innovation, and the ability to think on your feet.

You’ll handle everything from on-site fabrication and repair work over the water to in-shop builds, equipment modifications, and project component fabrication. Every day brings a new challenge — and the chance to build something that lasts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding on steel, aluminum, and stainless materials

  • Fabricate custom assemblies, dock and lift components, brackets, and structural members

  • Read and interpret blueprints, field sketches, and fabrication drawings

  • Work on-site with installation crews to complete field welding tasks — often in unique positions over water, on ladders, or walkways

  • Perform in-shop fabrication, repair, and prep work for projects and equipment

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of professional welding and fabrication experience (more preferred; pay reflects proven skill and experience)

  • Strong ability to problem-solve and adapt to real-time field conditions

  • High attention to detail and pride in clean, high-quality workmanship

  • Comfortable working in diverse environments — over water, elevated, and confined spaces

  • Proficient with fabrication tools and equipment (cutting, grinding, finishing, etc.)

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
